Elements of physics and chemistry necessary for the understanding of the major current environmental issues related to the energy and chemical industry
The objective of the course is to give the student a sufficient mastery of the notions of physics and chemistry necessary for the understanding of the great current environmental problems (waste, pollution, global warming, ...) related to the field of energy (production, storage and economy) and the chemical industry. The aim is also to awaken the student's critical and scientific mind in order to bring them to the knowledge of complex industrial and technological processes. The course will be illustrated by typical examples, in relation to current events and the industrial world.
Elements of: - Physical chemistry - Organic chemistry - Polymer chemistry - Environmental chemistry - Thermodynamic physics - Climatology - Semiconductor physics - Physics of materials
Partie Chimie:
Chapter 1 : Organic chemistry and materials
Chapter 2 : Acidity and pH
Chapter 3 : Kinetics
Chapter 4 : Environmental themes
Partie Physique:
Chapter 1 : Environmental challenges
Chapter 2 : Energy production
Chapter 3 : Energy storage
Chapter 4 : Energy economy
The assessment will be based on a written examination (counting for 2/3 of the final grade) and on the completion of a group work (counting for 1/3 of the final grade)
