Learning outcomes

To introduce the student to the methodologies that have underpinned the disciplines of art history and archaeology since their origins. The major theoretical and practical approaches implemented in the West since the Renaissance will be considered. The critical approach to these methods will be based on founding texts put in context in order to grasp their objectives beyond the forms of expression and to measure their impact on the student's scientific approach.

Content

The course is organised around ex cathedra lectures and the analysis of a corpus of reference texts.

Assessment method

Oral exam.The evaluation will be based on the critical commentary of a text from the corpus analysed in class, and a personal text analysis prepared beforehand.
