Become familiar with patient approach, history taking, clinical examination and clinical reasoning.
Master the fundamental concepts of semiology and clinical reasoning.
It is important that the student becomes familiar with the clinical reasoning that will be the basis of his or her doctoral learning. The aim of the medical propaedeutics and semiology course, which is given in the form of oral presentations and group exercises, is to show the Baccalaureate 3 student that he/she is capable of combining, and even integrating, in the thread of a clinically oriented reasoning, the basic notions examined during his/her three applications. To this end, clinical doctors and academics specialising in various fields explain the essential notions of the art of reasoning (medical propaedeutics) and of clinical signs (semiology) in the various fields of medicine. Concrete clinical cases are presented and discussed.
In view of the health situation, the teaching and assessment methods are subject to change during the year 2020-21. Written examination with short open questions and/or MCQs. The final mark is negatively modulated by one or more serious deficiencies revealed by the answers to the open-ended questions in the examination. The exact modalities of the assessment are subject to change when the examination timetable is drawn up, depending on the practical constraints that the faculty administration may face, or in the event of illness/force majeure/emergency with a placement, preventing the student from taking the examination on the date initially scheduled. Credits for the course are earned when a mark of 10/20 or higher is obtained in the examination (taking into account any decimals; a mark of 9.6/20 is therefore well below 10/20 and is reduced to 9/20).
