To provide a sound knowledge base and stimulate the student's capacity to reflect upon the specificies of the Belgian territory with respect to the geographical and geological domains.

Content

Man has always exploited the resources of its environment, notable those contained in its underground. The underground of Belgium includes a wide diversity of rocks. Their genesis and their economical interests, past or present, are developed during the first part of the course. The second part of the course envisages the interactions between man and its environment in terms of land use, housing, demography and landscape planning.
