Angélique Aristondo, a C2W post-doctoral fellow at UNamur, has distinguished herself by winning the second 2023 Gender and Health Research Award from the ARES Women and Science Committee. Her research project focuses on violence against women in Senegal.

Born on the internet, memes are an integral part of digital culture. These images, often humorous, combine text and visuals to convey a message. At UNamur, Lieven Vandelanotte, professor of English language and linguistics and general linguistics at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, has taken an interest in them from a linguistic point of view. In his new book, co-written with Barbara Dancygier of the University of British Columbia, he deciphers how these creations play with words, images, and grammar. 

It's official: the University of Namur joins the Réseau d'Échanges et de Liaisons entre Institutions d'Enseignement Supérieur Francophones (RELIEF). From 2020 to 2025, as part of her doctoral thesis in history, researcher Julie Duchêne conducted a ground-breaking investigation blending history and biology to trace the cohabitation between humans and wolves in Wallonia and Luxembourg, from the 18th to the early 20th century. Thanks to an innovative interdisciplinary approach, including DNA analysis of naturalized 19th-century specimens, her work sheds light on the mechanisms that led to the local extinction of the species. This research was made possible thanks to the support of numerous scientific and cultural partners.

A delegation from the Université de Namur took part in an exploratory mission to the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) in Dakar, Senegal. The aim: to discover the research carried out in the field, meet UCAD researchers and initiate future collaborations between the two institutions.

Last June, the UNamur Board of Directors officially announced the creation of the Observatoire des Littératures Sauvages (OLSa). Founded in 2022 under the leadership of Denis Saint-Amand, FNRS qualified researcher in the Department of French and Romance Languages and Literatures, this research center studies how literature is constructed outside of books and literary institutions, through alternative objects or channels.

Two researchers at the Institut du Langage, du Texte et de la Transmédialité (NaLTT) have just been awarded funding from the F.R.S - FNRS following calls whose results were published in December 2024.Composed of researchers in linguistics and literature, the NaLTT Institute constitutes an interdisciplinary space for diachronic and synchronic research into verbal and multimodal communicative practices that manifest themselves in, are shaped and/or regulated by culture and society.
