Developing creativity
At the end of this course, the students must be able to read, understand, synthesize and criticize peer-reviewed scientific articles.
This teaching unit aims at deciphiring molecular mechanisms allowing 1) the formation of several subcellular organelles, 2) the adaptation of cellular stuctures to mechanical forces, 3) the intracellular trafficking of proteins and 4) the relationships between pathogens and cell hosts.
To reach that goal, the students will have the opportunity to attend seminars and to discuss with experts in several domains : Etienne Morel from Hopital Necker in Paris, Cédric Blouin & Cédric Delevoye, both of them from Institut Curie in Paris, Francesco Baschieri from the Medical University in Innsbruck, Clarisse Berlioz from Institut Cochin in Paris and Pascale Zimmermann from KULeuven.
These researchers wil talk about their projects regarding the ciliogenesis, the role of caveolae in the mechanosensing, the formation of recycling endosomes, the involvment of clathrin in the migration of canceous cells, the uptake of HIV-1 virions by a non-canonical mechanism of autophagy, the formation and the uptake of exosomes. Other subjects, such as the non-conventional endocytosis of CD166 in cancer cells and the intracellular trafficking of the membrane type 1-matrix metalloproteinase MT1-MMP in cancer cells will be also addressed by the co-titulars (I. Hamer and H-F. Renard). All the topics arouse much interest in the scientific world at the moment.
