Learning outcomes

The aim of this course is to enable students to improve and deepen their knowledge of the grammar, syntax, lexicon and morphology of the Italian language in order to reach a C1 level of receptive skills as well as a B2/B2+ level of productive skills of the Italian language in its spoken and written dimensions. It also aims to familiarise students with the very complex Italian linguistic reality, both from a socio-linguistic and historical point of view. The students are introduced to the working tools of an Italianist, in order to master the methodological bases indispensable for a possible deepening in the second cycle. At the end of the year, students will also have acquired a solid knowledge of Italian culture and literature, through exercises and several readings of contemporary literature.

Goals

At the end of the course, the student should be able to - understand factual and fictional texts (written and oral) - produce coherent and sophisticated texts on a variety of topics - in terms of oral production, communicate coherently and argumentatively in tasks requiring a direct exchange of information on a variety of topics. - identify and explain syntactic phenomena, particularly through the reading of literary texts - to know the Italian linguistic reality from a socio-linguistic and historical point of view, to master the working tools of an Italianist and the methodological bases indispensable for a possible deepening.

Content

Students will be encouraged to deepen their knowledge of the language, contemporary linguistic issues and knowledge of Italian culture and literature.

Assessment method

- A partial written examination in January - A written exam in June - An oral examination in June - A written and oral examination in August, in case of failure in the June session. The weighting and assessment criteria will be presented in class at the beginning of the year and will be available on Webcampus.
