This course aims to confront the student with a certain number of problems through the critical and in-depth study of various aspects of medieval art (excluding architecture).
Building on the general introduction to medieval art in Bac 1, this course aims at a more in-depth study of one or more artistic fields, chosen from one or more periods, based on specific themes that can be developed in painting, sculpture, goldsmithing, stained glass etc. The themes of the course change every year.
This course requires the active participation of students. The analysis of the works and the clarification of the issues addressed are extended through field visits and a short study trip. A DVD containing the illustrative part of the course is made available to students.
Oral examination
As the subject matter changes each year, recommended readings are offered at the beginning of each course.
