Learning outcomes

This course aims at acquiring the basic reasoning of the microeconomic analysis. Students are introduced to the modelling of economic agents' decision making.

Content

The course focuses on the analysis of competitive markets. The course presents the consumer's problem (what to consume?) and the firm's problem (how much and how to produce?). The determination of prices is investigated in partial equilibrium as well as the impact of several public interventions on equilibrium prices. The course introduces the basics of game theory. The course emphasizes the fruitful use of mathematical tools in microeconomic reasonings.

Assessment method

Written exam and optional test (the test is only taken into account in the final evaluation if its mark is larger than that of the exam).
