The results of this ballot are as follows (in terms of percentage of votes awarded):

  • Annick CASTIAUX: 82.07%
  • Blank vote: 17.93%

On the basis of these results, the General Assembly has appointed Madame Annick Castiaux as Rector of the University of Namur from September 15, 2025 for a second 4-year term.

The university community mobilized massively for this election. The turnout for this rectoral election was:

  • 72.94% for administrative, technical and management staff
  • 13.15% for students.

As a reminder, the University of Namur elects its rector by universal suffrage. Over 8,000 members of the university community were eligible to vote. Elected Rector in September 2021, Annick Castiaux is therefore renewing her mandate for a further 4 years.

The Rector, Annick Castiaux

After a few years, she misses the world of research. She had the opportunity to return to the university as a lecturer in UNamur's management department to develop the management engineering program and initiate research in innovation management. Since 2002, she has been teaching technology and innovation management, increasingly integrating critical questioning concerning societal responsibility and sustainable development.

In 2015, together with a few colleagues, she founded the Creativity and Innovation Research Center (CIRCé), one of the components of the Namur Digital Institute. Her research focuses on innovation dynamics, regional innovation ecosystems and participatory innovation.

Since her return to UNamur, Annick Castiaux has always been involved in service missions within the university until becoming rector in 2021.

She declares on the occasion of her re-election for a 2nd term:

I am honored and moved by the trust placed in me by the university community. The 4 years of my first mandate have given me a better understanding of the components of the university and higher education, which I wish to put at the university's disposal once again in order to contribute ever more to its development and reputation.

The election process

The entire electoral process is overseen by a commission chaired by Philippe Olivier, honorary magistrate in Namur, and bringing together the presidents of the various staff bodies (academic, scientific and administrative, technical and management staff), the president of the General Assembly of Students and a representative of the Society of Jesus. On the basis of the institution's statutes, this commission drew up the electoral regulations endorsed by the General Assembly and ensures all management and control of the electoral procedure.
