The new strategic plan 2025-2029 follows on from the "Univers 2025" plan and aims to reinforce its effects. Its objectives remain as relevant as ever: defending UNamur's place in the academic landscape, transforming the university, and responding to major societal challenges.

More than ever, it is essential to assert and develop our university project. We want to be a university that innovates, opens up to the world and fully assumes its societal responsibilities.

Five priority objectives

  1. Develop the university, singularly defending UNamur's place in the university landscape and collectively with other universities, affirming the importance of teaching and research.
  2. Pursue the digital transformation, notably by integrating AI responsibly and critically, in the service of missions and administrative simplification.
  3. Be the driving force behind sustainable development in our training, research and practices.
  4. Strengthen internationalization by training global citizens, creating solidarity in the face of totalitarian drift, and consolidating our European positioning, notably via the Universeh alliance.
  5. Guaranteeing the quality of life on campus: making the university a place for study and work, but also for conviviality and safety.

These five objectives have been defined to help meet three challenges that condition UNamur's future: its undeniable positioning, its financial sustainability and the commitment of the community.

Four levers for action

  • Innovation
  • Cross-functionality
  • Recognition
  • Financial sustainability

These areas of focus should enable us to amplify the strategic objectives defined in the "Univers 2025" strategic plan implemented by the rector's team and all the university's entities. They must also serve to defend a just, sustainable and democratic society. These four axes also form a virtuous circle. Innovation will nurture reputation, which, like transversality, will underpin financial sustainability, essential for investing in innovation.

Priority projects

Following on from the Universe 2025 strategic plan, the Board of Directors has identified a series of priority projects that will form the outline of the 2025-2029 strategic plan. These list a series of actions to be undertaken within four years, in the missions of teaching, research and service to society, but also in human resources, finance, organization of the institution, digital, sustainability, quality of life internationalization and local and regional positioning.

"Thanks to the four levers of transversality, innovation, development of UNamur's reputation and constant attention to the institution's financial sustainability, the university, in all its primary and support missions, wishes to stay on course towards the strategic axes set in 2021 and which remain its priorities: its development, its transition towards greater sustainability, the quality of life offered to its members on its campus and in its activities, its growing internationalization and intelligent digitalization. All this while questioning each of its decisions and actions in the light of its core values", concludes the rectoral team.
