Why did you choose to study at UNamur?

Moving from high school to university can be confusing, but the University of Namur, with its reputation for being on a human scale, offers a setting where students are not seen as mere numbers. This closeness is felt in all sections, even in the small Germanic languages section. We feel well integrated and supported, whatever our difficulties.

In addition, the university buildings are close to each other, making it easy to get around. The train station and the city center, just a few minutes from the campus, are great assets.

Why did you choose Germanic languages?

When I started Dutch in secondary school and later English and Spanish, I knew I wanted to go into a language-related profession.

My choice was naturally Germanic languages, and I know I haven't taken the wrong path.

Thanks to the teachers, the classes given entirely in the target language right from the start, the individual exercises and the great openness of the program (with courses in history, linguistics, mastery...) succeeding this bachelor's degree will prepare me for any master's degree and I'll always find a job I like.

What do you particularly appreciate about your study program?

The closeness with the teachers and the support they offer. It's magical to be able to create a bond with them, when you'd think they wouldn't even know your first name. They always listen to us and are ready to answer our questions.

The many organized activities also strengthen these bonds between students and teachers. I'm thinking in particular of the study trips to Amsterdam and London, the convivial Christmas party, the novel presentations at lunchtime, the themed course dinners...

Even during the difficult Covid period, many mechanisms were put in place so that we didn't feel lost.

And student life at UNamur?

The University of Namur offers lots of activities. With the sports card - which costs just €40 - I have year-round access to all the sports on offer. It's great to be able to work out after class without spending a lot of money and without any commitment. It's also a great way to meet new people and relax.
