Since the start of the second phase of UNIVERSEH, last November, the Université de Namur has been fully involved in all Alliance activities. Several actions and projects have seen the light of day: the signing of new partnership agreements, winter schools, training weeks for staff, the organization of an upcoming spring school,... Others are in the development phase: the launch of a new kot-à-projet, the integration of "UNIVERSEH" courses into the curricula of certain faculties,...

One of the activities developed within the framework of the UNIVERSEH Alliance is the establishment of exchange stays. With the aim of developing relations between the 7 member universities, multiculturalism, interculturality and European identity, UNIVERSEH offers students from its universities "UNIVERSEH School" exchanges. Lasting 5 days, these are carried out as part of the students' university curriculum and enable them to take on multidisciplinary challenges, work in teams, apply innovative learning methods, and meet local stakeholders.

Sylvain Ernotte, a 1st-year Master's student in Physics at UNamur had the opportunity to take part in the "Artic Winter School" in Sweden from February 26 to March 2, 2024. This exchange trip provided an insight into the interdisciplinary fields of the Arctic environment. The week in Kiruna included visits to the Esrange Space Center, the Swedish Institute for Space Physics (IRF) and the EISCAT scientific association. But also, to the Abisko scientific research station, the LKAB iron mine and the ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi. "This experience brought me a lot on a personal level. It was an opportunity to meet people with different cultures and profiles, but all interested in a common subject: the Arctic environment. What's more, I had the opportunity to learn things that I wouldn't have covered in my academic curriculum. And that's very interesting," explains Sylvain Ernotte.
