Its functions
Member of the Rector's Council
- Work collegially with the other members of the Rector's Council to establish the priority lines of the strategic plan and translate them into operational objectives.
- Supply the Rector's Council and the Board of Directors with the information they require and which is relevant to their functions.
Student affairs
- Drafts proposals for institutional policy memoranda, investigates and ensures the proper management of files relating to extra- and para-academic student activities, student social and medical-psychological assistance, student housing, foreign students and students with special needs and status (high-level athletes, etc.)
- Chairs commissions (foreign students, students with special needs, Disciplinary Commission) and prepares the agenda for meetings of the Social Affairs Council.
- In collaboration with the Vice-Rector for Education, assumes institutional responsibility for appeals in the event of registration refusal for students in non-financial situations.
- Assumes responsibility for the application of the Student Code of Conduct and related disciplinary measures.
- Stays in touch with students, student organizations (Student General Assembly, etc.) and listens to their initiatives; prepares and issues attestations of recognition of extra-academic commitment; ensures, in compliance with the Participation Decree, the launch and smooth running of student elections.
- Represents the University on the Pôle Académique de Namur (Commission de la vie étudiante) and at inter-university level (CReF, ARES on student and social issues), or appoints a representative to do so.
- In collaboration with the General Administrator, referent of the Service des Infrastructures et de la Gestion du Campus (SIGeC), defines student housing policy.
- Is the University Community Life (VéCU) department's point of contact with the Rector's Council and the Board of Directors.
- Communicates internally and externally, both with local authorities and the press.
Campus life
- Drafts proposals for institutional policy memoranda, investigates and ensures the proper management of files relating to campus life, in particular cultural, sporting and civic activities and events, university catering policy and chaplaincy.
- Sets the fundamental directions and objectives for campus life; the master plan for the University Community Life Service (VéCU).
- Submits a reasoned opinion or allocation proposal to the General Administrator regarding budgets and investments linked to campus life.
- Oversees the attractive image of the campus and student policy.
- Defines the broad outlines of policy relating to the provision of premises to students for blockade periods and exam sessions.
- Is in charge of: university catering policy; cultural policy (communication and socio-cultural activities); sports events policy and program, and the provision of sports facilities.
- Is the Vice-Rector of reference for the university chaplaincy; participates in the Religious Affairs Council (CAR).
