Mechanics, optics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, special relativity and quantum mechanics.

Teaching methods

Directed reading. Each week, the student reads one or more chapters of a reference work on his or her own, and then presents the content to the teacher, who ensures that the student understands it, draws attention to the essential points, invites him or her to make connections, clarifies points that may seem obscure, and suggests ways of deepening the study.

Assessment method

Assessment is continuous and focuses on the actual effort made by the student.

Sources, references and any support material

The book, which is suggested to the student, is Susskind's Theoretical Minimum. Other texts may be added, depending on the difficulties encountered by the student or his/her interest in particular areas.
