Part 1: General Public Health At the end of the course, the student will be able to : 1. Master the key concepts and methods of public health 2. To have a global vision of the Belgian health system 3. Preparing to develop a public health strategy for a given health problem Part 2: Public Health Ethics: - Ability to identify and think critically about the ethical challenges in the field of public health.

Goals

Part 1 : General Public Health The objective of this part is to acquire knowledge of the essential concepts and tools in public health, as well as to understand the main lines of structuring and functioning of the Belgian health system Part 2: Public Health Ethics - To put in place the theoretical tools to identify and critically think about the ethical difficulties specific to the field of public health.

Content

The public health course consists of two separate parts given by two different teachers. The first part will be specifically devoted to general public health (D. Roberfroid). The second part will deal with public health ethics (L. Ravez). Theoretical models generally used today in public health ethics will be discussed. Several practical examples will be used to illustrate the theory.

Assessment method

For the part "Public Health Ethics": a written work accompanied by the course teacher. For the "General Public Health" part, the evaluation is based on an exam of 20 to 30 MCQ-type questions. Each valid question is scored as "+1", an incomplete question is scored as "0", and an incorrect answer is scored as "0". " -0,25 " For the part "Public Health Ethics": a written work accompanied by the course teacher.
