Since September 2023, the University of Namur has strengthened its commitment to the implementation of a reform of research evaluation by signing the CoARA agreement. This signature commits the University to a series of principles with the aim of revising research evaluation criteria, notably by taking into account career diversity and emphasizing qualitative criteria over quantitative metrics.

Talent development and coaching

It is within the general framework of optimal implementation of aspects linked to these new practices and their evaluation that the five universities of the FWB are organizing themselves to build a program of joint actions, each of them in charge of a Work Package (WP). The University of Namur is coordinating WP 5, which aims to strengthen support for researchers and talent development.

In order to follow these guidelines and make the Wallonia-Brussels Federation an example of innovation and scientific talent development, this WP 5 will aim to:

  • Draw up an inventory of all the training courses available in the various French-speaking Belgian universities. And to classify them according to the 7 acts of "ResearchComp" - a tool built by the European Union defining 7 axes of competence and 38 sub-competences that a researcher can develop during his or her career.
  • Group together all these training courses on a single platform open to all five universities
  • Promote awareness of the "ResearchComp" tool and organize skills assessment workshops
  • In order to train tomorrow's leaders, offer targeted leadership and management training courses to R3-R4 researchers from the five FWB universities
  • Organize an event showcasing FWB talent.

Each university is responsible for a WP, but all participate in all WPs, with internal resources pooled to ensure consistency across the five WPs.

The other WP's are:

  • scientific integrity
  • scientific ethics
  • open science
  • research evaluation
