The course aims at mastering the fundamental knowledge concerning Roman archaeology: urbanism, architecture, daily life.
The teaching is based on significant examples of Roman cities, studied in their evolution, with particular attention to the organisation and the everyday life of the citizen, as well as to the objects most often encountered in the archaeological levels. Recent documentation and current research trends are presented in a critical manner. COURSE OUTLINE Part I: Urbanism and Architecture A. Pompeii: Urbanism, architecture and commercial activities. B. Oral examination. Two questions are asked: the first, prepared, deals with a transversal theme; the second, direct, consists of a commentary on a projected work.
