Learning outcomes

To search the scientific literature for the elements necessary to answer a question posed, which will be related to a research project within the Environmental and Evolutionary Biology Research Unit (EEBRU) Select - in collaboration with supervisors - an appropriate approach to answer the question posed Conduct an applied ecological research study, often combining approaches computational and field-based Cross-curricular skills: working in groups, project management; communication in French.

Goals

To deepen the students' knowledge of a specific theme (changes every year, depending on the projects in progress within the URBE) in the field of applied ecology; To show students the different levels of approach to an environmental issue

Content

A theme is defined each year, on the basis of which the teachers give an introduction: presentation of the case and the environmental problem. From this initial presentation, seminars are given by invited specialists and the students carry out bibliographical research on specific aspects. Practical work focuses on learning techniques that can be applied, both in terms of measurements and the evaluation of environmental consequences and resource use. From the academic year 21-22 the theme is climate change (mitigation), in collaboration with the ICEDD in Namur.

Assessment method

Group report writing (50%), followed by an individual interview (50%) during which soft skills will be assessed.
