- In-depth knowledge of cell biology under normal and pathological conditions.
- Presentation, Interpretation and Critical Analysis of results published in the scientific literature.
The main objectives of this course are: 1) to learn about the cellular mechanisms responsible for the development of several diseases based on experimental results published in the scientific literature and 2) to learn to present scientific results in an appropriate language and structure.
The student should be able to :
- explain the purpose of the experiments.
- explain the techniques used.
- describe and analyse the results of the experiments.
- to integrate these results into a broader context taking into account theoretical knowledge.
- to understand the cellular mechanisms responsible for the pathogenesis of several diseases.
After a general description of the pathologies, we will discuss intracellular mechanisms such as the ubiquitin-proteasome system, aggregation, macroautophagy, chaperone-mediated autophagy, lysosomal exocytosis, as well as metabolic regulation mechanisms, based on experimental results and models proposed in the literature. The pathologies will be grouped into three categories: 1. Diseases related to protein misfolding (Mucoviscidosis-Serpinopathy-Parkinson's Disease-Alzheimer's Disease) 2. Diseases related to vesicular transport defects (Familial haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis-Lysosomal overload diseases-Lowe syndrome) 3. Metabolic and inflammatory diseases (Hypercholesterolemia-NAFLD)
Oral examination with preparation.
