- play a preventive role
- manage cases of suspected scientific fraud.
In the event of a suspected breach of the principles of scientific integrity, any member of staff may refer the matter to the Scientific Integrity Council.
A new procedure in the event of such a complaint being lodged was adopted by the Board of Directors on April 20, 2018.

The Higher Council for Scientific Integrity
The University of Namur officially recognizes the Higher Council for Scientific Integrity (CSIS). The CSIS is established within the Royal Academies of Belgium.
The CSIS is competent to issue recommendations and opinions on general issues relating to scientific integrity, either on its own initiative or at the request of scientific bodies. The CSIS has no power of first opinion. The CSIS advisory body is competent to provide a second opinion when a scientific integrity committee of an institution that recognizes the CSIS as an advisory body has issued a first opinion on a case of alleged violation of scientific integrity, or has decided not to give an opinion.
