Goals

Space is literally all around us: human activities in space are unavoidable in almost every societal domain. This course aims at introducing future professionals and our fellow citizens to the societal impacts of human activities in space. The program will be constituted by a series of lectures and conferences by experts or thinkers including people from private sectors or governmental agencies.

An academic board from various faculties will define the program on a yearly basis.

 

 

Content

Here is a list of possible topics that are of primary interest for this course: Space Law, Space Business & Innovation ; Geopolitics and Space ; New Space ; Space Medicine ; Space Sustainability ; Fundamental Science in Space ; Earth Observation and Climate ; Space Education and Knowledge Dissemination ; Technologies for Space Exploration and Exploitation ; Human and Robotic Exploration ; Cybersecurity, AI & Big Data in Space ; Space and Arts ; Ethics for Human Space Activities ; etc.

Assessment method

The written exam will consist of producing an original and individual text on one or several topics selected among those of the conferences. Personal lecture notes will be allowed during the exam, as well as conferences slides and supports. However, internet connexion will be forbidden during the exam.

The original text will have to satisfy precise criteria, for instance in terms of readership and styles (e.g., essay, report, analysis, press communicate, post on social networks, popularization, etc.).

The text will be evaluated on its rigour, discernment, clarity, originality, impact, readibility and attractivity.
