Learning outcomes

The student must be able to understand all the notions seen in the syllabus and during the different laboratories. The student must be able to synthesize a molecule or to assay an active ingredient within a given time frame, based on a protocol provided.

Goals

The objective of the integrated practical work is to allow the student to assimilate, integrate and give a practical vision to the different theoretical notions approached in the following courses: pharmaceutical chemistry (organic synthesis and molecular structure), pharmaceutical analysis (analysis of synthetised products, determination of active principles of plants, pharmacognosy (extraction and determination of active principles of plants with medicinal properties.

Content

The practical work consists of the realization of syntheses/dosages of active principles and their analysis. The theoretical aspects of handling, synthesis and dosage will be discussed and the theoretical concepts covered in the courses (pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical analysis and pharmacognosy) must be mastered.

Assessment method

Assessment is carried out throughout the year (during practical work) and through a theoretical and practical examination. The theoretical examination (in audience) is written in the form of open questions and/or MCQs and/or true or false. The examination material covers all the integrated practical work (syllabus, notions acquired in the laboratory, etc.). The practical examination takes place in the laboratory. The student has to perform, on the basis of a protocol, a syntesis or an assay not seen during the year. Attendance at the sessions is compulsory.
