Masters 120 en enseignement section 4 et 5

Making young people capable of learning and collaborating, guiding them, helping them become agents of change... Being a teacher is exciting!

Organized as a joint degree by UNamur and Hénallux, the Master 120 in Teaching section 4 - Biology prepares you for your future teaching profession in upper secondary education (4th to 6th secondary).

The program

The Master 120 in Teaching section 4 - Biology consists of the following axes:

Training in and through practice

Organized around secondary school internships, this axis offers you the opportunity to discover various professional and social environments and aspects, and to develop and exercise your teaching skills there. During your internships, you'll acquire knowledge and refine your critical thinking on the challenges and issues involved in practice. You are supported in this realization by various professional practice analysis seminars.

Didactic and pedagogical training

The didactic courses focus on how to teach your discipline to your future students and how discipline-specific knowledge is constructed and evolves over time. They stimulate your creativity and give you the tools and methods to develop your future teaching sequences.

The pedagogy courses draw on different disciplines to lead you to design, operationalize and evaluate teaching sequences based on students' needs.

Training in the humanities and social sciences

The emotional, organizational, cultural and political dimensions complement your training to address the various facets of the teaching profession.

The Ethical and deontological aspects of the teaching profession and the foundation of neutrality course trains you to adopt an objective, unprejudiced attitude while respecting the diversity of opinions and values.

Training in and through research

Articulated around seminars and targeted coaching, this axis aims to discover and appropriate research methods in didactics and educational sciences. The culmination of this axis is not only the defense of an end-of-study dissertation on a topic chosen in consultation with the trainers, but above all the development of the identity of a practitioner-researcher.

Disciplinary courses

These courses complement your mastery of biology.
