Biography
Dr Martin Desseilles is a psychiatrist, psychotherapist and professor at the University of Namur.
A medical doctor, psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Martin Desseilles divides his time between clinical practice and research into psychiatric neuroscience. A professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Namur in Belgium, he regularly gives courses and lectures both in Belgium and abroad.
Martin Desseilles has written or co-authored numerous original articles, published or under-printed in internationally-renowned medical journals. He has also edited three books and published numerous book chapters.
Martin Desseilles has received numerous national and international awards for his research in the field of mental health and psychiatric neuroscience.
Martin Desseilles' research includes the study of the interactions between cognition and emotion using different techniques (behavioural, pharmacological, electrophysiological and neuroimaging), different states (wakefulness, sleep, hypnosis and meditation) and different populations (healthy people, people with mood disorders, people with anxiety disorders, people with substance abuse, etc.).
