In collaboration with the Institut technique de Namur (ITN), the Faculté des sciences de l'éducation et de la formation provides theoretical and practical training in preparation for the CAPAES for teachers contracted to work in a Haute-École or in social promotion higher education outside the pedagogical categories.

The CAPAES is a compulsory certificate, organized by decree by the FWB, which enables teachers already working in a Haute-École or in social promotion higher education to obtain an appropriate pedagogical title. This condition is set by circular 9021 of 7/09/2023.

ATTENTION!  In the case of teachers inpedagogical categories who teach pedagogy, didactics or training to and through practice, the required qualification is the Master of Specialization in Teacher Education (MSFE).

A theoretical and a practical component

  • The theoretical comprises 120 hours of courses (reduced to 60 hours if you already hold a teaching qualification) and includes:
    • a socio-political focus (30 hours)
    • a psycho-relational focus (30 hours)
    • a pedagogical focus (60 hours)
  • The practical comprises 90 hours and includes:
    • a practice support focus;
    • a practice analysis focus;
    • a professional development focus.

Teachings are made up of face-to-face sessions as well as personal work to be carried out between these sessions.

They are taught using methods adapted to the specific CAPAES audience and indicative of the methods to be promoted in higher education.

An integrated work based on your professional practice is due at the end of the course. This work is preparatory to the professional dossier you are invited to submit to the inter-network CAPAES Commission, at the end of the training, with a view to obtaining the certificate.
