Learning outcomes

The course aims to introduce students to tutoring practices and to develop in them the essential skills of a tutor, namely: - identifying learning problems - planning individual remedial actions and identifying solutions - effective listening, questioning and clarification - improvising and innovating creative teaching solutions - conveying subject-related principles and facts - understanding how others learn

Content

Theoretical course (4 hrs): introduction to tutoring practices (definition and methods of tutoring, success factors of a tutoring experience, essential skills, etc.) Exercises (11h): integration into a transition tutoring experiment carried out over the last 2 years by the 'Louvain' University Academy and described in the document available at the following address: http://www.fundp.ac.be/recherche/publications/page_view/66429/

In March 2009, the report commissioned by the King Baudouin Foundation and produced by Marc Romainville and Pascale Lepage was published: "Le tutorat en Communauté française de Belgique.
