To register for the bachelor's degree in medicine, you must first pass the entrance and access exam. The procedure differs according to the student's status: resident or non-resident.

What does it mean to be a resident?

Resident student status involves a whole series of criteria that can be consulted below. If the student is unable to prove "resident" status, he or she will be considered a "non-resident" student.

The competition is fee-based and payment is made online.

Please note: registrations will not be accepted if fees are paid after the close of registration. These fees are for the entrance exam only and do not cover university registration fees.

Registrations from May 15, 2024 until July 7, 2024 at 11:59 pm.

Once registered, the competition takes place at a single location for all candidates on the territory of the Brussels-Capital region.

Please note, online registration only concerns registration for the entrance competition. At the same time, you must register for the bachelor's degree at the university of your choice.

You can register for the entrance exam before obtaining the CESS (certificat d'enseignement secondaire supérieur). On the other hand, to register for the bachelor's degree in medicine, the CESS is one of the documents required.

Procedure

When registering online for the entrance exam, the following documents are required:

  • a copy of both sides of your identity card,
  • proof that you are resident in Belgium: a certificate of residence (or registration certificate or domicile certificate), dated no earlier than the date listed in circular 2024-2025 (currently unavailable) to be requested via the National Register access application or from the commune.

If you pass the competitive entrance examination

  • Apply to the university of your choice (as declared when you registered for the competitive entrance examination) by September 30 at the latest.
  • Provide the requested documents.

In the event of failure to pass the competitive entrance examination when an application has already been made

  • Get to know about the other courses offered by the University of Namur and don't hesitate to apply for them. To do so, contact the Enrolment Department and provide proof of having failed the medical entrance examination.
